    big lifts for defender 130

Ok,every one seems to think defenders dont need big lifts. Some say 2" is great, but try following a GQ running 39bfg locked up. Well in this case id think you might want a big lift....... I do!!!!....... The law say no! so how do all these nissans get away with it? Go to Rockhamton Qld.and look around ,big lifted rigs everywhere..Anyway in saying that im tiered of people telling me ,NO YOU CANT DO THAT. Well you must be able to at least in rocky.lol..... ok... Could somebody please tell me who i may contact to at least tell me where i could get parts for say 4-6 " for a defender 130 to run at the smallest 37" rubber . I sure somebody does this ,people run 37" and up in the UK,U.S. and check out iceland 4x4 some are on 44" rubber so this tells me it can be done ..... any help out there ....

I'm told it is illegal in most peoples cases but my Disco has been modded and the RTA and an engineer have signed off all of the modifications so it is all legal. I suspect that is what you'd need.

My understanding is that QLD is worse then all the other states. I know the parts exist for what your after. So is it just the installers telling you no to cover there ass or who is saying it? I'm not sure what you'd get out of running what your interested in except a wanky looking rig. And it'd be very expensive as you'd have to modify the drive shaft too and lengthen brake lines etc.

.Im not trying to look wanky,im sure 37-38" rubber is within reach.for 35"rubber you can run with standard 2"lift 3-4" lift should cover 37"rubber as long as i stay with no wider than 12.50 width.wider offset rim .im not looking to run anything over 38" 37-38x12.50.16 can be done but i cant even seem to find springs over 75mm for a defender. brake line ext. the norm id himejoint everything and cut the wheel guards out if i could drive it down the road and run 38s easy lol!!they say i cant do that over here either lol!!!!!I love this rig and im tired of my buds telling me i should have bought a toy or a patrl.its all in good fun but I know that you can make a 130 as extreme as any 4x4 and thats what im out to do....Iv not seen any hard core 130s but if you can do it to a 90-110 you can do it with a 130.just have to overcome the 127"whl base ,to do that we have to go up!! To be able stay up wth the shrtys!! so that puts me around 4"lift and 37-38"rubber to = out in the longer whl base.

You could always put portals under you defender and still have stabilty and also have diff clearence in deep ruts.

Just depends how deep your pockets are also have a look in the vendor section for suspension stuff he should be able to help you...

Anyway good luck keep us posted would like to see a pic of a defender that big....

i am not sure about fenders but in my disco i run 4 inch lifted 80 series front springs which gives me about 7 inch lift
all i had to do was weld smaller lower spring perches on to my existing mounts

    its illegal...

till you go through the red tape...

do the proposal of change, get an RTA (or equivelent) engineer to say "yep Im good with that go for it", change it, get it inspected, get it plated and then reinsure it and reregister it...

Im waiting for the day that they bring inspection criterea up to spec as part of my military trade (I can do it on military vehicles anywhere and civvy vehicles as required on base as part of investigations) and then Im going to be a ***** and go sit somewhere like stocktons and when some big lift toymotor driver starts bagging my dead stock SIII I'll just immediately issue him defect notices for illegal susspension, steering and brake mods unless he has all the mod plates and certificates....

Hmm, I'd just cut 27" out of it, some 35's, lift it, shoe horn in a Duramax and 5spd Allison auto and there you have it. Serious torque and functionality without the turning circle issues. As for your mates with the toys and ptrols, they'll be on the downstream end of the towrope after a while, so they don't count. Anyway, just show 'em the Duramax and they'll soon want one for themselves...

Doesn't matter what engineer etc you see. In Qld anything like what you propose will be illegal/unroadworthy.

Doesn't stop people though as you know. So if it is what you want, you have the money and are prepared to risk getting put off the road or worse then go for it.
