Aha! I had assumed D1 or RRC as the D2 and P38A V8s have coil packs attached behind the engine.

My coil sits on top of the guard between the air box and the washer reservoir. Just like Tank's pic except with the square air box, the coil sits where his air duct is.

cheers guys, buggered if i can find tanks pic, must be doing something wrong, is on the guard the best spot, have a snorkel fitted and want to keep the coil as far away from water as possible. Mind you still have the distributor to deal with.

    Coil Mounting in 96 3.9Lt V8 Disco

    Hi kitacooch,

Here's a photo showing how the coil and power steer reservoir have been repositioned in my 96 V8 Disco. I can't claim credit for doing the job - the previous owner did this by modifying the support bracket quite extensively, but everything fits in quite well (but with no space to spare).

If you want more detailed photos PM me so I can send you higher res photos.

    Good luck.
