    Need help selecting vacuum hose & T piece for boost gauge

    I've got myself a boost gauge to check out what's happening with my TD5 Disco's turbo.

    I'm looking at fitting it into the hose going to the wastegate modulator. There is a t-Piece and nylon hose on ebay and I'm wondering if the sizes are ok for the t-piece fitting into the wastegate hose and the nylon hose going onto my gauge.

    My boost gauge nozzle is about 4mm diameter at the very end. I'd like to make sure I've got the right thing before tampering with the car.

    Could someone look at this link and give me some advice if the sizes are ok please?

    Summary

    Length of nylon hose is 2 metres (6' 6")

    Outside diameter is 4mm

    Internal diameter (bore) is 2.5mm

    Supplied complete with silver t-piece bore 4mm x 4mm x 2.5mm

    you want a brass barbed t piece fitting for down at the turbo end, a length of about 5 inches or so of the high temperature type hose and a barb to olive joiner to suit that and about 1/8th inch Nylon pressure line.

    I lazily just fitted the hose they supplied to the plastic barbs they supplied and on a trip about 8-10 months later the hose melted and after cutting and fixing that the t piece split I replaced it with the same (cause I had them on hand on the side of the road) only to have the hose let go about 8 months later again and then the tpiece let go on the way to cooma.

    when that happend there was no waste gate actuation and I got stuffed into limp mode after an over boost.... Not fun especially when trying to climb hills with more than 2t of trailer behind me...

    Ive now got hose clamped high temp hose on brass fittings that leads away from the heat to the normal 1/8th hose that came with the gauge.

    Thanks for that Dave.

    Would Silicone hose be ok to cope with the temp? I see that advertised on ebay as well.

    Also, where is the best place to bring the hose into the car?

    I just bought some cheap clear plastic hose from bunnings. Its been doing the job for about 5 years.

    Pull the hose off the waste gate actuator and measure its inside diameter to know the size fitting required.

    Im fairly sure that its a 1/8th inch ID hose so you need the 3 way barb to suit that and then the barb to olive adaptor for the nylon line that comes with the gauge (use a bit of the high temp hose to keep the nylon clear of the turbo) then hose clamp it all together.

    but taking the hose off and measuring the fitting it came off of is the way to go. IF you goto a hose specialist then they will usually be happy to come out and eyeball it in the carpark to give you exactly what you need.

    Im fairly certain that I have a pic of my routing (I replaced the clock with it) somewhere on the forum, If I dont, shoot me a PM and I'll show you my layout..

    I think you can see it in some of the posts Ive done in regards to other things in the engine bay..

    roughly I ran it up along another hose looped it around the back of the engine then tucked it into an unused but sealed grommit fitting in the firewall.
