About four months ago. In case there was any ambiguity, I meant 4 200Tdi injectors for $149 each.

Yeah, I think they have come down a bit in price as I got 4 new injectors for my 300 Tdi for $130 odd each about 2.5 yrs ago from a Bosch service agent.

What did the problem turn out to be. My 95 Defender 300tdi had a similar failure on the Nullarbor. It was trucked back to Melb where head was removed and checked. Head was fine, I replaced the valve stem seals and refitted the head to the block.

Engine now starts ok but makes a knocking noise at revs.

Next step is to drop the sump and check the crank bearings.

Turned out to be the head gasket gone, no real reason for it going everything else was o/k.

Did you re-do the tappets after replacing the head? You should be able to tell by listening to it to see if the noise is from the top end or in the bottom.
