after we built it up from a 4.0L cross bolted block with 3.5 hi comp heads, a stage one cam from bruce davis, the original inlet manifold with the carbys, it wouldn't run on anything but premium without pinging.
since then i put one of those fuelstar catalysts on, nowi can run on uleaded in an emergency, but it's best on 95 octane. recently put electronic ign on it and it's better again.
