Is that a very infortunate looking dog, or a piglet?
The early steel RR rims don't have any sort of beads to hold the tyres in place (at least mine don't) so that's the main reason for running tubes.
Low pressure & the tyre will just come away too easily.
I ran 7.50R16 tyres (tubeless) on Disco 7" rims for a few years & popped the occasional bead at approx 18psi. I suspect this was due to the rim not being the ideal size for the tyre (slightly too wide rim).
I then ran tubes for a while on the same tyres & found that the tyres would spin on the rims at low pressures. Glueing the tyres to the rims reduced that problem.
I'm now running the early steel rims with tubes. So far, so good. I haven't done too much serious work with them but the tyres haven't moved yet.
They got a workout last weekend on some tricky sections & worked a treat.

Do yourself a favour and buy some 7-8'' rims and fit some bighorn 255's. Pat
I have been offered some 130 ANR1534 rims from a defender at a reasonable price so I am thinking of putting 235/85/16 maxxis bighorns as they have the sidewall lugs as well.
I think the 7.50R16's will be a bit small and narrow once I get the body lift and suspension lifted...they might look silly on a high vehicleI am not sure they will perform safely at low pressures on non beaded rims. This thread has been invaluable and steered me away from the 7.50R16's, I dot think they are suitable for what I want them to do
then theres some 16x8 sunraysia style rims with 255/85/16s which are the same height as a 33 OR 33x10.5x15 BFG MT's.....
I havent ruled out 33x12.5x15's on 15x10 rims and flares, just dont know which way to goso many options its not funny
basically I want a tyre that will run at 15psi off road, give me decent clearance under the diffs (32 or 33 inch will be okay) and wont look silly under 2 inch body lift and 2 inch coil lift. I like the looks of the 33/12.5 muddies with flares and cut guards but all that weight on the bearings/stubs and flogging through the bush in mud/ruts/rocks etc might be too much in the long run....
I ran 33/12.50/15s on my V8 110 for years, no problems, just a bit more feedback through the steering wheel. Easily the best off road/on road tyres I have run. Never had to change tyre pressures at all from the 25 PSI I ran them at.With the V8 it could pump itself through almost any mud hole I pointed it at
On the TDI 110 I run the narrower 285/75/16s to suit the alloys.
