They have movement sensors on the inside, so something may have set it off (ie) fly/huntsman, as for the stopping, you may have a problem with the immobliliser, which may be connected with the alarm going off.

Take it and get it checked for faults.

    Cheers Baz.

Are you sure it was the alarm? I thought the alarm on mine had been triggered at about the same time one morning until I realised that the horn was sounding a steady note, not the wah wah alarm. Then I realised that the horn button was stuck down about half way and had eventually gotten enough contact to sound the horn.

I had a moth flying around inside my car ( must have flown out of my wallet ) set the alarm off at night. The car was parked right outside the bedroom - SWMBO not happy

Now I just lock it with the key if at home. ( on a D1 this disables the ultrasonic movement sensor but the door and bonnet sensors still work. )

But you may have other problems.

    Check the bonnet switch.
Check the battery voltage is above (from memory) 11.5V when engine and ignition is off.
Check the doors all close and lock properly.
Is the car very dusty inside this can effect the motion sensors if fitted?
Also with motion sensors - stating the obvious - is there anything at all that could shift in the car?

mine used to go off intermittent & eventually worked out if a window was left down, even an inch or so,it would sometimes go off.

yours sounds like a fault somewhere,& with my limited ability i have on idea where you would start to look

i use the key method in camp grounds, as mine went off at dalhousie springs at one in the morning....& up set a lot of happy campers

i think something moved in the car that caused it to trip

    cheers
