    ABS question

I just got asked a question on the way home. Old matey has a 95 Disco with the 300tDi in it. Now the brake switch (one behind the pedal) has busted. It's the normal plastic screw in one, with the two lugs for the electrical connections.

Now the question I got asked is if it was ABS or not? Now normally it's an easy question to answer, but he didn't have any keys or anything for the vehicle. Hence why I am asking here.

Prices quoted so far are $30 for the non-ABS, and $90 for the ABS version from Albury.

Would it be any cheaper to get an aftermarket one?

Sorry for the dumb questions, just not too sure on this and I don't want to give advice I'm not 100% sure of.

    Cheers
    Chris

Easiest way to check is 99% of the time the models with dual airbags have ABS and the other models do not.
When I was looking for my Disco1 that is how I checked them at glance. Also If it has roof rails then it has ABS as only the SE7 and up seemed to have roof rails.

As for the switch I have no idea what the differences are.

I say 99% of the time above as I did come across one Disco1 that had dual airbags but no other options. Thought it was odd at the time. Was a 96 model from memory.

Can't you pop the bonnet to check? Is that why you mentioned the keys?

The non-ABS part no. is 134H3735L
    ABS AMR2010

As you note, there's a big difference in price. The old genuine parts price list I have shows the ABS at $57 and the non-ABS at $15

    No keys?

How are you going to change the broken switch?

Look under the car near the hubs. Look for the ABS sensor cable. Try the rear, there's no brake pad wear sensor there (dunno if there is one at the front).
