Series 2 or 3 Registration
G'day
If a series 3 body was put on a series 2 chassis, what would be the rego implications? would it be registered as a series 3 or series 2? or would it not be legal?
Cheers Paul

I dont think anyone would know or care. It goes on the chassis number of the vehicle. As long as you comply with the ADR's applicable for the vehicles registration. As far as QT are concerned if the chassis number matches and you keep paying your rego = all good. I would be more concerned over the insurance company.

The SII and S2 bodies are essentially the same.
As Mick says no one would know or care. That is provided that you removed the compliance plate.
The issues that you are concerned about would be covered in the regulations allowing parts of a vehicle that meets later ADR being fitted to an earlier car.
It will/should be registered as a Series 2 as per it's chassis.

So basically the compliance plate is not taken into account by Qld Transport when registering a landy?

All they realy want is a current safety certificate, chassis / VIN number and an engine number. As long as you can point these out to QT rep if they want to eyeball the car then all will be good. I wouldn't even mention the change in body panels. My old girl had series 3, 2 and 110 bits.
