    Indicator Short

OK putting my hand up for some help.

Symptoms - blowing fuse that looks after indicators, fuel and temp gauge.

I figure that it blows when the steering wheel turns but you don't have to be using the indicators.

The indicator switch had a broken mount and was floating around a bit, now replaced but problem still here.

Any ideas where to look - I'm starting to suspect a wire (power) chaffed through during our Madigan trip - is there a likely spot??

    Martin,

Behind the dash facia the stiffener bracket for the dash can chaffe wiring, and the main harness and plugs etc drape around this stay. Possibly something touching I'd say. Also, where the wiring loom comes down to the fuse box, up behind the lower dash there is very little space for the loom and it is quite tight in there. Another spot for chaffing wires!
I also had a Defender recently where the wiring harness that travels along behind the booster to the inner guard was rubbed through, so check BOTH sides as they can rub through where the wiring runs along the inner guards to the front indicators. The rear indicator wiring on these is a disaster too, exposed at the rear RH chassis section near the crosmember. Have you also checked the trailer plug etc?
    Hope you find it !
