Stranded Non Urgent
Mother inlaws Disco 300 Tdi 1998 model.
Symptoms
Started as slow cranking
Fix
Get new battery
Result
Seemed to of fixed it but still cranked slow
However now it sometimes will not start it can be jump started but now it is stuck in the shed. You can key the ignition and all lights light up as per usual but then nothing but the relays under the glovebox opening and closing. Fuses all look fine.
Starter Motor
Now there is nothing wrong with the starter motor. This has been taken out and tested.
Battery
Terminals are tight, no loose wires brand new battery. Tested fine.
Where to from here?
On searching through Aulro I am thinking Alarm Spider.
Can anyone offer anything else to try?
Cheers
Gillie

1st symptom: slow cranking. Check/Clean chassis earth connections for battery ( drivers side chassis rail near the steering box) and starter ( passenger side rail running from the bellhousing to the chassis).
2nd symptom: No start. To find out if it is the alarm system interfering, try a jumper wire to the starter solenoid relay post ( spade terminal).
If/when you get it running, test out the alternator to see it is charging properly.
How much does it cost for a new mother-in-law ? ( A pun on an old 'Marshal Batteries' ad)
