I am trying to figure out the hose the soft hammer was used fot the long bolts at the base of the firewall. Amazing what turns up in photos. I might post some pics in a new thread soon. Cheers, Erich.

    Why remove the roof?
Mine came out without touching the roof or engine.
Wiring is going to be the main headache.

We took the roof off mine when we were messing about as leaving that attatched to the screen made more sense than breaking the sealing between the roof and screen. I dont think the sealing is the same on the earlier ones. Was yours more like a series, with a flat face between the roof and screen and a flat seal?

I had my car fully disassembled so I didn't have to make that decision. In my opinion for the case for another 20 screws (SW it would be a much easier lift - straight up. The roof only weighs a few kilos. Either way works. I notice you removed the inner guard - this seemed a bit of a pain at the radiator end.

Wiring is a piece of cake - just mark everything when disconnecting.

A new seal OEM is about $20 - not really an option as the original seal is usually damaged and probably won't go back correctly.

Damn,, looks like a huge job. i am going to be doing this to mine soon, i need to replace the firewall as its badly coroded in several places as well as replace the roof as the previous owner did a hack job on it cuting the roof down to cover the front seats only then changed back to full roof by what look likes sticking it together with bog!! so i am up for a huge job.

Make sure you take heaps of pics for me
