This may seem like a question with an obvious answer.....
Which EFI system on the Range Rovers or Discovery's have sequential injector firing? My experience is limited to the early flapper type and I thought they were bank injection. Is that correct?

I thought the pre-P38A RR and the D1 (except the MPi which wasn't sold here) were bank injection. The P38A and D2 are sequential.

3.5 flappers are bank as are 14cux's. The ecu doesn't know the crank position.
The injectors are wired i parrallel 1 bank on the left 1 on the right.
Dump the juice in and hope for the best....![]()

To use GEMS you'll need a 4.0/4.6 block with provision for the crank angle sensor. You'll also need the cam position sensor so that means a special cam sprocket (very, very expensive - think many hundreds of dollars), a suitable timing case for the cam sensor, the ECU, coil packs (no dizzie), etc.
You'll need the flywheel with the reluctor ring. I can sell you a brand new one of those. They are a few hundred dollars.
You'll also need the very exxy MAF sensor (think about $500).

Unless you can source the complete gems system 2nd hand for next too nothing it would be far cheaper to convert to a coil pack/trigger wheel setup to go sequencial. This allows sequencial injection in 4 banks of two. You still dont get full sequencial (ie 8 indepenant injector output) but the benefits of 8seperate injector outputs probably isn't worth the effort in terms of h/p or torque gain on a dinosaur engine like the rover V8.
Im running a wolf ecu with bosch injectors firing injectors on companion cylinders. Im also running 4 coil packs in a wasted spark config. The car produces 140kw and almost 400nm (its a 4.6)
If you need any info about setting up an aftermarket ecu and coil packs/crank trigger let me know as i have done mine and Jezzaol's setup and
both have been successful

Thanks Luke, The vague idea at the moment is run the Gems hardware ie plenum, rail, manifold and injectors and as you with the wolf or megasqirt. For sparks a Edis 8 system mainly because it's been done and is known to work. I wanted the Sequential purely because if I have run petrol then I want to use the least amount of it.
The whole shebang is going on a 4.9 litre Leyland affair.
I'm curious though, if you're using the Wolf why isn't your setup full sequential? Or is that a different model Wolf I'm thinking of?
