    Disco seat foam

Seat foam collapse, common problem. There were reports on here of a new foam (MXC7870) costing circa $90 from a dealer. Unfortunately there are no more left and my local has had to email UK to see if they can source one.

What can I do if I can't get a new foam?

Spoke to an ISRI dealer. One sentence reply - "we only sell seats for vehicles over 4.5t GVM, goodbye."

I also visited a motor trimmer who had a look and reckons he couldn't replicate it as it is a moulded shape. He showed me another style that they could make, but it had a huge "groin bolster" made of leather running between the legs, so that the legs were separated [bizarre] - I'll try and find a picture.

    Any ideas?

    Try another motor retrimmer.

A good one can and will fix / change the foam in your seats.

    Cheers
    Dave.

BTW, I'm getting some Recaro's done this week.

I'll let you know the outcome as your in Melb.
This guy was reccommended to me by a bloke who runs a motoring detailing & restoring business, so he is pretty good.

    Cheers
    Dave.

Ahh looks like I'll need to visit a few more trimmers.

But the good news is my dealer can get a new foam from O/S, $226 + gst.

You can order the foam from Exmoor Trim in the UK for about AU$150 for 2 seat bases (+ freight).

See another trimmer. It's not like you are asking him to sculpt granite with his teeth - it's foam. I've done motorcycle seats before that require a heap of inletting.

Have dremel and grinder, with foam, far will you go young B92.

I did see another trimmer today who hollowed out the bolster cavity and filled it with an expanding product for nix. It's dried so hard that everytime I jump in the Disco, its like the 120 days of sodom.

Outcome: there is a new MXC7870 on the plane as we speak

For a student you sure like wasting money, for that price you could buy a pair of complete seats !
