I get 700 deg C pre turbo after tweak, but it takes a long hard hill to get up there. 95 TDi disco auto. Not sure what pre tweak temp was, but it sure goes one hell of a lot better now.

Ok adjusted the setting to suit the K type thermocoupler The funny thing is i think it now reads correctly ,360c to 420c cruising 110km ,had it up to 480c climbing a hill on the highway

So the only complaint is the instructions for the unit and my ignorance for thinking it would be set up for the K type thermocoupler
The probe is very short but ive scored a longer probe , im unsure whether to go the longer type

I have no idea what is short and long for you.

But if it is installed in the egr blanking plate, then the tip of the probe needs to reach beyond the pocket under the plate into the exhaust gas stream - otherwise the temp reading may lag to much.

these readings are pretty much what I get - 360-400 flattish touring at 110 and 500 up a gentle but long hill at 100-110..and can do 700 if I really push it up a long hill or if towing up hill..sounds about right to me....

As in short probe i mean about 5mm which is the one ive fitted that came with the kit
The longer probe well i scored two different lenghts , one which is 50mm and the other is 150mm in length
So im thinking the one at 50mm would do the job just right

I recently purchased the Thermoguard egt with plate from Ian and the prob sits in the pocket of the egr thats what the instuctions say .From what I have seen and discussed with other forum members theres is the same. The temps seem to be normal about 300c to 330c at 100k and after a run sitting idle it goes down to 180c.

But on another forum they have done what you said Bush65 cause I thought I was doing something wrong but I didnt want to straighten the probe cause knowing my luck I would damage it.
