    Simple answer is no.

More technical answer is that if it was to be and exempt trailer in Vic it has to be within the width of the vehicle, under 3m long and GVM less than 750kg.

But most camper trailers are generally registered so they can be max width which is 8' I think.

The other thing to think about is that if it is to be used off road it makes it easier if it is within the width of the tow vehicle and make the track the same to make it easier to know where the trailer will be so you dont take it out on things that the tow vehicle makes it past.

    Hope that helps.

As far as Vic is concerned, if the trailer exceeds the width of the towing vehicle, or the weight is above a certain level, or if the length divided by the width divided by the weight and multiplied by 7.43, you need to pay extra rego....
    if not...tis ok

    Absolutely no idea....sorry

I prefer to have the trailers guards just a bit wider than the vehicle with the wheel track the same as the tow vehicle.

Makes it easy to spot when reversing and it will follow in the compressed sand your tires leave when you drive across the beach.
