I just bought a generic version of a Bosch. It was $288 (5 years ago) but I didn't have time to shop around. The original one on my 300tdi 130 was Magneti Marelli and only needed bearings but the rollers ran directly on the shaft and wore it out.At least now I can change the bearings. It's a 75 amp one.

Just (yesterday) put a 120 Amp Bosch out of a VW Golf VR6,

needed to change the pulley for the Rangie one and put a generic fuel injector plug on the Tach sense and warning light wires to plug into the Golf Alt

    cost $100

    1/2 hour to swap over

if anybody wonts the part # I'll post them up

I have talked to many people who got an higher Amp alternator from the wreckers and modified it for a v8 RR, so I would expect the same could be done for your car. Do not know much about this though, but suggest you do some research on this matter before spending the money.

C.E.Wilson, not sure what you need to know, I just took my alternator to my local auto electrician after I pulled it apart and found the bearing and shaft were worn (Magnetti Marelli don't have normal bearings on the slipring end, just rollers running on the shaft). They ordered a Bosch copy which was a direct replacement.I have a pile of old bosch alternators for parts and bearings are at my local bearing shop.
