    D1 300tdi oil cooler pipe 'O' rings

Are the O rings that seal the oil cooler pipe to radiator joints anything special or can I just get some generic ones.
If so does anyone have a size? Mine were mangled when I removed them so I cant use as a sample.

I'm pretty sure I have the correct one in my hot little hand and it measures 7/16"ID, 9/16"OD, section 1/16"

    Material.
IMO it's better to have Viton or flurocarbon to handle the temps as Nitrile really has an upper limit of 135*C according to my book. (although I haven't seen an oil temp above 110*C yet, it's still only cool and I've only been logging temps a few weeks)

Hopefully Tombie will drop in as this is his territory.

    Thanks Rick.
I dropped into the local bearing shop at lunchtime today and picked up some high temp ones - Viton rings a bell - they are a slightly red/brown colour not black.
The sales guy seemed quite switched on - I gave him the pipe dimensions and he came up with an O ring to suit. I'll check the dimensions against yours to be sure.

    rick130,

Is that section measurement a radius? if diameter then we have lost 1/16 between ID and OD.

    Seems to add up to me. 7/16 + 2x 1/16 = 9/16

    nope.
    7/16 + 1/16 + 1/16 = 9/16

Viton (flurocarbon elastomer) o'rings from most auto shops ie Bearing wholesalers and also Pirtek, Enzed etc. These handle higher temperatures.

    L/R Part No is ESR1594L
