Changes in ambient temp and humidity change EGT's, this is what I meant by 'swing around with changes in the weather'. Your cruise EGT on a hot summer day will be higher that cruise EGT in winter.

Post turbo probes are of limited use for knowing what the critical temps are. The temp drop across the turbo varies with changes in boost and EGT.

Car companys must hate these internet forums. Years back we never heard of all the problems.Ive had two Landcruisers and had gearbox problems with both. Bought a new Patrol in 06 and nothing gone wrong with it.Tow a car trailer and a caravan. Keep the series three for up the beach.Best of both worlds.
