    Roller Rockers

Howdy Guys , Just doing some dreaming on the net about building one hell of a V8 and come across roller rockers . Are they what they are cracked up to be ? Do they make a motor run smoother and better ?

    yep what he said.
wouldnt waste me money on em for a rover.

they do cut down on friction and are designed for hi valve spring pressure and hi lift cams. ive always run them on all my ''other'' motors.

    cheers phil

Would'nt aftermarket Roller Rockers be Cheaper to buy than original L/R rockers, esp. if the originals were buggered, Regards Frank.

Along with an aftermarket pedestal shaft??, I'd imagine someone is making them, but they're likely to be making aftermarket standard rockers to

Thanks for the replys guys . I wouldn't want to spend the money on a rover motor . I was thinking about putting roller rockers in a 308 that will have a big cam in it .

long story short, if you're building a serious engine, the easier you make it for the engine to do its job, the easier it is for the engine to make good power reliably and consistently

dont skimp on stuff, try to use known brand stuff, the last thing you want is for the $80 set of no name lifters to fail, possibly taking out the rest of the engine with them

OK here is avariation that I have wondered about.
Has anyone seen a roller cam in a Rover V8.
You can get a roller cam and lifters for a Holden V8, and the lifters are the same, so why not a roller cam and lifters for a Rover V8.
The lifters for a roller cam are paired to keep alignment with a steel bridge, but it should be relatively easy to make a slightly different size bridge.
This woulds alleviate one of the biggest problems.

I have thought about needle rollers inside the rockers withsome kind of oil seal each side and a drilled oil spray hole towards the valve stem........ but I shouldnt say too much in case someone steals my idea........ DAMN!!! Just gave it away!!
