    Better brakes in a RRC

I almost took out a Mazda 6 today in Sydney when a push bike flew out and we all had to stop. Was only doing 30kms but Rangie takes way to long to stop in this situation and was only on 31" tyres.
It has all new brakes inc booster. I intend to fit 110 front calipers and remove proportion valve to see if it helps.
Any other ideas on getting more stopping power other then Nisota diffs.
    Thanks Tony.

Some reason I feel I should have done this in the 1st place 2 air lockers and jobs done.

Will try to get some slotted rotors and run with above.

I bought some vented calipers for the front from Paddocks and paired them with slotted rotors. I have been told that this should make a big difference. The Rangie is not up and running yet so have not tested it.

Another alternative is to replace the entire brake booster with a later one from a D2. This has the double diaphram.

    Yes......36's.

But I only have to get it passed by the engineer with 33's. Apparently he goes pretty hard on it in the brake testing so I want to make sure it is up to scratch.

But mine is not an everyday driver.

This is my problem. We do all our long trips in this thing. I have to keep it safe with intended mods. Ive got to do the engineer thing as well. With a lift in NSW it has to do an emergency stop with front brakes disconected (Has to do with weight transfer caused by lift.) Then lane change. I intend to run 35's if it will behave.

The defender calipers will be plenty. With them my 2.3t RRC pulls up just as hard as my japanese shopping trolley.

Vented rotors will not stop you faster, they will reduce fade under repeated braking though.
My experiences with EBC pads on mountainbikes mean they're the last brand I'd put in one of my vehicles. Poor stopping, poor life and they fade where original pads don't.

    Stopping

Your on the right track. I have fitted 110 calipers and an early Disco booster with 3 port master cylinder. We also have an adjustable proportioning valve. Running 35,s it pulls up well even with the Isuzu up front.
