Workshop manual for 88 Range Rover

    Hi Guys.
Im new here, due to the purchase of my first 4x4!

Its a 1988 3.5 V8 and its in pretty good shape for its age.

I am having trouble finding a workshop manual for it, and I thought you guys might have an idea on where to look on the net. Im basically just after the general maintainence section on things like...

    1. What engine oil, and how much.

    2. Coolant type and capacity.

Great site you have here, and I look forward to posting some picks of my new ride soon.

    Thanks,

    Reuben.

    Welcome to the forums Reuben

Haines manual will do you fine .... Should be available at most Auto Stores

Oil choice is dependent on the "age & condition" of the motor
Don't have the actual figures of capacity of fluids on hand right now

On the subject of coolant ..... Be aware ... V8 rovers are bad for air locks when changing the coolant ..... Buy the book and FOLLOW the instructions closely ....

TIP for filling up with coolant /// Park and fill on a hill with the car facing uphill /// Helps to remove air locks /// Check level the next day

    Thanks Mike.

I have been to 3 auto stores, and they say they dont stock that year, and they cant find the info to order it in either!

While browsing the forum, I found a link to the shop on the top of the index here at AULRO and all the info Im after is avaiable on disk. Ive placed an order!

Thanks for the tip, and I look forward to chatting with you all.

    Good luck with that.

I emailed a question to whoever sells those manuals on this forum and never recieved an answer. I resent the question 3 times but still no response.

I eneded up buying an online manual from the UK and downloading it. It is fantastic and includes a full parts manual as well with exploded diagrams.

    It came from here:

You WILL still need to buy the "Haynes" manual

Where are you located?? ... as it makes it easier to put you in the right direction

I am located in Adelaide. Spoke to the guys at TriumphRoverSpares and they said $175 for a genuine one that they would have to order in, or to try auto stores. Ive tried 3 and they all say the same thing.

My CC has been charged for the manual on disk, and recieved an email saying it will be in the next mail run. Ill give them a week.

Any ideas on a website I can order a BOOK from?

Also, what PSI should I have the Tyres at for beach driving? They are at 40Psi now. Thats way too hard I think??????

I got mine from Repco .... "Haynes manual" $55 ... Just place a order with your local Auto parts seller (surprised TRS don't have it)

Here try the supplier if you want

    Range Rover

Beach driving? .... Depends on the surface

Hard sand = start at 22 to 20 psi
    Soft sand = 18 to 15 psi .....

10 to 5 psi for bogged ..... Re-pump tyres after problem solved

Go down in stages to suit the terrain .... as all tyres are different

    Before beach driving .....
Buy a tyre gauge + Air compressor + Spare tyre valves & caps + valve removal tool

Also buy the basics of at least ... a snatch strap with 2 rated shackles

I got a compressor and gauge today. Will be properly introducing myself in the "introductions" thread with some photos later tonight.
