I had my pump tweeked by Bruce Davis in Febuary after it needed a rebuild and it now blows a heap more smoke than it used to. Before i could never really see any smoke on acceleration but now i can see a trail behind me, its not thick dense smoke like a clapped out hilux but its visible.

Bruce tells me when they are tweeked they are tweeked so that if the owner wants to they can opt for a manifold and turbo tweek that helps get more air in, once this is done it blows little smoke because of the increased air flow. Matt
I havnt heard of this manifold tweak, do you know what might be done.

There is nothing I can think of that could really be changed in the manifold.

The pump tweak from what I have seen and read is to up the amount of fuel that the pump can feed the injectors and also controls the boost.

When properly set they do haze a little but if it is heavy it can raise EGT's under heavy loads which can burn pistons, pop head gaskets or burn out valves so if you have just had to replace the head then I would either fit an EGT guage or back of the pump a bit.

Sorry, but that makes no sense. More air = less smoke. More fuel = more smoke.

Back to the original question. Is the performance OK? If you think the smoke is excessive, check/replace air cleaner, get injectors tested, check all the plumbing between the turbo and the intercooler, fit an EGT to make sure the fuelling hasn't been turned up too much.
