Thread: Rear Upper Tailgate

I'm guessing this is an old topic (sorry), but my 87' RRC rear tailgate won't shut/lock. There's nothing wrong to the best of my knowledge with the tailgate itself, it seems it's just the right side lock mechanism won't "grab". I've cleaned the mechanism, fiddled with the lock striker, but with no luck. If I leave the rear tailgate down, everything works nicely. Any advice would be very much appreciated as i'm new to this forum and I've had the Rover for about two months. Thanks. John

Have noticed the same problem with mine occasionally, usually when the lower tailgate is not shut properly, but some times I just have to shut it harder.
