Starting a job which you wish you hadn't....

    No not swapping the headgasket

I decided, as I had run out of things to do without a lifting assistant (Sam had gone dancing!) to clean the inlet manifold inside and out.......

Never again. What a bloody awful disgusting job.... Reminds me of working on a 1960's Series Landrover that hasnt had an oil change for 10yrs..... black oil that wont come off.....

And the bloody thing has had an EGR removal kit since basically new.....

    Anyway its pretty clean now

    Lovely isn't it Pete

I had the task of cleaning the inlet tracts of the ZD30 Nissan engine we are just replacing, just as bad as any Td5 or Td4 freeloader I have ever come across for slimy, black disgusting residue.

It'll take some washing off the hands too.

    Pete.
Not any more He and his wife(My office manager) and their 2yo son reached Alice springs today,They rang me from Marla this morning to say hi. They have accepted the job of a lifetime for them,(Both country kids) both are working as a stockman and camel shooter/ vermin controller, governess etc and they have a home and vehicle supplied on a cattle property.
Will miss them as they are not only capable and honest hardworkers for 19 and 20 Y/olds, but make a great couple too! Both have butchering tickets, both are accomplished shooters and hold commercial licenses, and have spent most of their lives living and working on the land.

So thats why I have to clean my OWN stuff now

They both come from hard working backgrounds, the filthy jobs never worried them, and for such young 'kids' they were certainly a credit to their parents. The amazing thing is just how you can be suprised by people. Most of the other 20yolds about the place are sitting around waiting for their dole cheques and figuring out where to get some cheap booze from, rather than doing an honest days work.

Rant and thread hijack over now, sorry Pete!

I wish them well, as I would be doing the same thing If I was in their shoes!
