    Ceramic coating

    Hi guys ;

    thinking about ceramic coating my exhaust manifold and down pipe on 300tdi and extractors & some of the exhaust in the Rangie , are there any other gains beside the Bling factor or the longevity of the pipes?

    As far as im aware, heat is a big reason for doing it. It reduces heat from the exhaust gas conducting through the tube and radiating into the engine bay.

    Cheers!

    You get a few more HP as well, but as beforethevision said, heat is the main reason.

    I've just sent my manifold off to get done. I wasn't planning it, but since it was off the car I thought i'd get it done. $175 at competition coatings, brissie.

    Excellent , I thought the reduction in heat radiating factor would be some sort of a gain, would there be any gains in the actual flow of exhaust inside the pipes , FWIW unlike chrome the ceramic coating is also done inside the pipes...would this be correct .?...

    Yep, heat. quite a few race / competition cars have it done.

    I dont think you would get much of an increase in flow, at least on tubular type maniflds, but I am not sure on cast ones
