found what caused the broken drive plate

When removing the 3.9L from the rangie I found the flexible drive plate was broken. -see Have I cracked the Block?

now when I'm putting things back together I find that whoever put it together before used the wrong ring gear plate (The centre hole was to small, this caused the setting height to be 2.5mm more than it should be, this would have put excessive pressure on the flex plate causing it to fail.

Pity I dont know who ripped the previous owner off by actually charging him for such a crap job.

Hmmm, a bit special not to notice something like that. It was lucky the pump didn't get trashed also.
    Cheers
