I've heard that before about aftermarket centrifuges. OE all the way also.
I'm not sure what its like now, a few years ago one of the fellows on D2Au did a count on the air filter, and the OE had more concertinas than the aftermarket filters.
I serviced our Series 2 Disco to-day - oil change etc etc. Replaced the centrifical oil filter with a common after market one. Went for a drive and when I turned off the engine I could not hear the customary wind down of the filter.
I did this 3 times - lifted the bonnet - still no noise.
I then bought a genuine filter from Trivett, installed it and "music to my ears" the filter wound down for over 20 seconds
From now on ONLY genuine filters for me!!!!
Has anyone else any comments on these filters ??
Erich

These guys make the centrifuge, so should be able to tell you where you can buy a M+H branded centrifuge element that is identical to the OE part.

I was given a aftermarket centrifugal filter to fit to a D2 once, when I openend the box, one of the bronze bushes wasn't even fitted to the element at all
Genuine or branded MANN only for me too.
