    Door Lock

I have a TD5 and the rear drivers side door lock refuses to unlock when the button on the remote is activated. The same happens if the key is used in the lock.
I can open the door if I pull up the lock tab at the same time as opening the door from the inside.
Can someone give me an idea what to look for here to rectify this problem.

You have central locking on your Landy?

A luxury many are not privy to, myself included. I would however, recommend checking the wiring on the central locking actuator on the faulty (driver side rear) door.

1.) Check that wiring has not come loose / fallen off.
2.) If not, check if it's getting a signal when you lock / unlock doors. (i.e. pull the wiring apart at the connector, and with a test lamp check each of the wires while locking / unlocking the car. I'm guessing there'll be either three wires (one for ground, one for lock and one for unlock) or only two wires if less sophisticated (one for ground, and one for "change state").

If it's signalling OK, that would indicate faulty / stuck actuator. If it's not signalling, then you'll have to trace the actuator control wiring back to the controller and check for damage.

    Have fun and good luck

If it's the same as the D1, I reckon it would be the tiny lock spring. On D1 it can be replaced fairly easily, but not sure about TD5.

There is a small "kinked" wire that connects the external mechanism operated by the handle to the actual lock.

Seeing that the internal door handle works, I'd be thinking it's that "link" that's come off somehow.

You'll have to take off the door card to check it out, and that will be the worst part of the job. The little clips that hold the door card to the steel door frame invariably snap when you are pulling it off.

There is a special tool to remove door trim which might do a better job than a screw-driver.

    Good luck!
