Cooper Discoverer S/T 255/70R16 have just put them on my P38. have been running them in 245/75R16 on my lifted '84 Rangy for about three years very impressed, great compromise tyre minimal road noise, good grip in wet ,mud and sand

A mate of mine also has a P38a Range Rover & is looking to fit a set of All Terrain type tyres to his 16x8" rims.
He has BFGs on his D2 & is happy with those & has asked me to get a price for those through my work.
I've done a search for 255/65/16s & there's bugger all available in All Terrain type tyres.
Besides the Michelin XPC, the only one that seems to be available here is the Dunlop Grandtrek AT3.
RR.net lists a couple of other brands (Pirelli & Toyo) but they don't seem to be available here in that particular size.
Does anyone else know of other brands that might be suitable/recommended ?

Thanks but he's after tyres in the original size.
According to Tire Size Calculator - tire & wheel plus sizing the 255/70/16 are a bit bigger than he wants.
I'll have to see if he wants to try 245/70/16. An 8" rim is the limit for this size though.

I have Toyo Open Country A/T's in that size which I bought just over 12 months ago.
I'm pretty sure you can still get them, might have to go to a Toyo specialist (TyrePower)
Good value and I am very happy with their performance on and off road.

Thanks Dave.
I've turned up a couple more too:
Yokohama Geolander A/T-S
General Grabber AT2
I'll get prices now & see which way he wants to go.

Hi,
I have been running the Yoko ATS 255X65X16 on my Disco 2 for sometime now and they are an exceptional tyre. I have had them in everything except for Mud and they are excellent especially sand.
They are also 109H rated and I regulary have 2,500 kg hanging off the back.

Thanks Brad.

Ihave been running Cooper S/T's in 255/70/16 on the standard 8 inch rims on my p38 4.6HSE for about 33000 k's and love them.
Had no problem with scraping and their alround grip is excellent.
They still have 8mm tread after using on a variety of surfaces.
Top tyre.
