    Newbee

I have recently purchased a 2000 TD5 auto for the wife being new to Landrovers (always had cruisers and still have my 80 series)
I have a few questions re the TD5
    1. Are there any common problems to look out for, I;m handy with spanners so any thing that I can fix myself I will
    2. Reliability for touring and towing a 1.5 tonne camper
    3. What are TD%'s like in sand (long runs in sand Eg: steep point trip)
    4. Maximum tyre size for standard rims(AT's)
    5. can you change mode's in the auto while driving

I would appreciate any advise given

    Welcome Thorby .

The Td5 auto is the pick of the D2s in my opinion.

    Some answers:
    Q#1:
Watch out for engine oil travelling along the injector & engine harnesses. It can play havoc with the injectors & cause all sorts of running problems.

The M&S warning lights can come on at times - can be caused by a few things like low battery voltage (even though it might start OK) or A/C condensation dripping on the inhibitor switch.

Check the double universal joint in the front propshaft regularly (like once a month). The original one isn't greasable & can let go without too much warning).

Qs 2-4 I have no real experience with.

    Q5: Yes.
