    lift pump oil leak

    I have fitted a new lift pump on the 300tdi and new gasket and some spastic and found out today it is leaking pretty bad . checked the bolts and they were tight . any reason why it would be still leaking . and would it work better if i fitted a second gasket ?

    I would just pull it off and reseal it. See how that goes don't think a second gasket would help.

    Mate, don't be surprised if the new one is faulty and leaks oil. This happend to me, a brand new one had to be replaced with another one.....

    Mick, you shouldn't have to tollerate faulty new parts - take it back and request another one. The oil leak from my new one was from the primer lever not the flange face.
