MOG conversion For Tuff Truck defender

I have started my build for Tuff Truck 2009 and i thought i might share the build.

My starting car is my comp defender origionally built by Haultech engineering for the tuff truck challenge in 2005, then rebuilt by me in 2006/7.

    Origional specs
    - defender chassis with shaved suspension and body.
    - 3 link front suspension with 16 inch race runner air shocks
    - triangulated 4 link rear suspension with 16" race runners
    - jac mac Chromolly axles with toyota 8" LSD centers in strengthened rover housings
    - Haultech traction control with individual wheel brake locks
    - 3.9 rover motor ex 95 disco, moved back 450mm and down 75mm.
    - ZF HP22 auto and LT230 ex disco
    - 36 super swamper Iroks on 15x10 beadlocked rims (also had 39 iroks for a few days)
    - Full hydraulic steering (like a forklift) with High flowed commodore pump.
    - front Warn high mount and rear warn 8000lb low mount connected to axles
    - lots of tube and blue paint.

this is a photo to show how far the engine is back.

    What is changing

    - Axles, 406 merc unimog drum brake (2 steering axles) 4 wheel hydraulic steering with portals and factory air lockers.
    - suspension, triangulated front and rear with links made from 50mm solid 7075 alloy with 1 1/4" chromo heim joints.
    - Tyres 42x17 inch super swamper iroks in their sticky racing compound
    - No origional chassis behind transfer case or infront of engine mounts (remember where the engine is)
    - rims, custom 17x9 beadlocked steelies.
    - rollcage and chassis from racetech 650 chromolly tube
    - rear 9000lb warn on narrowed drum
    - front warn 9.0 RC winch with 4.8HP motor
    - Disc handbrake and rear transfer output disconnect

    - If i have time to play with the motor, i have a T3/t70 hybrid turbo aswell as a t28 that would go sweetly on my 4.0 i have laying around.

    40 degree steering lock.

I hope to have it ready for Tuff truck in april, however i may not be able to be there to drive it as my wife is due on the 9th. I am looking for sponsorship as i am quickly running out of funds, i am short of the entry fee and 2 10" stroke double ended hydrulic rams (just under 1k worth) and some nice paint (if i cant find someone to help out with the paint, it will go olive drab). So if anyone wants their company colours on a car that has had a bit of work and money invested already please get in contact with me.

    need 2 of these

Work so far, cut off the back with plasma and wheel out in the paddock

I had a look at it when I was over on Friday. They are big axles!

Here it is from 2005 TuffTruck.

Thanks slunnie, i was looking for that picture as you have posted it before. All my digital photos prior to early 06 had been wiped in a hard drive crash.

I did a bit today, no pictures though. I finished cutting brackets off and cleaned up the rear diff, flipped the steering arm to the other side. I have to weld the lower mounts on tomorrow i hope then i can get the length of the arms. I also rebuit my winch motor - 9000lb rear (been swimming in salt water) as the brushes had siezed. All happy now after another swim in diesel.

Good stuff Andy, it'll be a stunner once you've done.

I've probably already asked you this.... but how are you getting drive from the LT230 to the front diff?
    Cheers
