Well She's nearly back on the road again.
This morning whilst trying to sit the distributor in place , I noticed something loose, after pulling it apart , I discovered the counter weights for the Vaccum advance had popped off the pins they'r resting on  there is a retaining plastic ring which holds the shaft from pushing up and it's badly deterioated , I Pulled it apart today to see if I can fix it , looks like it's not a seperately sold part , the plastic cover is also cracked as well. luckily I can order this part seperately.
So looks like it'll be a few more days before I get it back on the road.

I suspect I won't be able to Just bolt it on and drive off , I'll need to get it to Bruce Davis to get a Tune on ECU and Fuel sorted out.:D
you can Take the sunnies off now , just Dim the lights in your room:p
ok guys the old girls starts , no issues , but there is major back firing  timing's been checked , I've definitely placed the distributor and all the leads the same as I had it before , TDC on No:1 in firing pos.
has anyone got any ideas what else i need to be checking?
The distributor is likely 180 degrees out, have you turned the crank at all?
If not, you mucked up the firing order
EDIT, oops, reread, it runs yea? if so disregard the above
More details on the backfire? have you timed it with a light? are you 100% SURE the leads are in the correct firing order?
rough idiling ,followed by quite a bit of back-firing, starts up ok.
No I haven't as yet , I supect that may the the ptoblem , I might be thinking the timing is correct but it doesn't seem like it is
Yep , Just went out side and checked again , all the leads were marked "1-4" earlier with 1 being the cylinder closest to the front on each bank of cylinders.
