Not sure about the k's, but my D90 300 tdi has been turning in between 28 and 30 mpg for the last five years if that's any help. Variation is due to speed - above about 100k the fuel consumption increases dramatically. If you drive on the road at a steady 60k, you find the consumption is reasonably stable. Off road and in low ratio, forget it, it drinks fuel. Consider to what you hang on the outside of your vehicle. A roof rack increases drag and lots of weight inside will also affect fuel consumption. Hope this helps.

Definitely agree with that, on our trip to Cooma last Easter, we were travelling with a S1 so fairly slow fuel consumption dropped dramatically.

As seen by my figures Aptula (Finke) to Birdsville @ 18l/100 fully laden, 250 litres fuel, 100 litres water, roof racks and didn't come out of low range for 11 days. On the stretch to Geosurveys Hill and return we estimated usage at ~40litres/100.

My 98 Disco has done 320,000K Has a TJM steel bar on front 2inch lift and 245/75R16's 30.6" tall.

I only do city driving and get 10L/100K i shift at 2000 and always have it in the highest gear possible to reduce revs!

On the highway i would expect this to come down and the best part of a diesel is they aren't as easily affected by weight!

In the 130 i get about 10lt per 100km highway and town..and best i have ever got was 8.9lts per 100km on the highway..which i was ecstatic about due to the size of the 130...very happy with fuel consumption in general as my fuel pump have been slightly tweeked
    Cheers Adrian
