As Rovercare said,
its the Rover ECU's that are the problem. I reckon it can be done, but its currently beyond my abilities. The biggest problem is the Transmission ECU.

CAUTION! NERD ALERT
The ECAT constantly monitors engine torque by a 12volt PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) Signal. When a gear change is needed it sends back a signal in the same format, determining how much ignition retard is required. It will only change gears when it registers the change in torque by the former connection.
Post 99 models use CANBUS to determine all this. From the info I have, the Delco ECU is extremely adaptable and expandable like the GEN III itself.
