A Couple of Questions Re-Fuel Pump AND

Firstly, the fuel pump, when you turn the ignition on, the pump is only audible for about 1 sec then nothing, unlike in the past when you could hear it all the time, the car has been a bit sluggish of late, especially at low revs, could this be the pump on it's way out and could this be why the larger intercooler hasn't mad any difference in power

    SECOND

When i first start the car, when idling I have a squeak coming from the fan area, sounds like a faulty fan belt noise, after it warms up it's goes away, I have checked the belt and it looks good, could one of the pully bearings be going

Any thoughts would be very helpful.

TD5 with 190,000Ks original belt and fuel pump.

At 190,000kms I think you're on borrowed time with both the idler bearings and the fuel pump Baz.

If you get to the idler bearings (2) quick enough, you should be able to repack them.
But AFAIK the only option with the pump is to replace it.

G'day Barry, in regard to the idler bearing, if it's anything like the one on the V8 I was told that the bearing can't be replaced. You need to buy the whole unit. I think, somewhere in the order of $200 plus. I pulled mine off, and found that the bearing could be replace. Bought 2 from a bearing man for $16 TOTAL delivered to my door!!! Now carry a spare all the time.

Hi Sean, I was hoping it was re-buildable would make things easier not to mention cheaper, just need someone that has done or knows it can be done on a TD5.
