PAS Box - too far gone to rebuild???

My 4-bolt PAS box has a LOT of play in the input shaft, and I found out recently that if you lift it up on a hoist, the fluid almost pours out (I assume from the output shaft).

I assume it is likely to be beyond rebuilding? However if anyone has any rebuild tips (or a how-to with pics!) that would be great!

Alternately, if there if someone has a box in good nick in the Perth area?

If there is alot of play most likely the bearings have collapsed. That happened to mine and it damages the shaft beyond repair. Pat

I would agree with PAT303. While it is possible that it is only the bearings, it is very probable that the shaft is damaged, and at that stage a replacement box becomes economically preferable. If you wish to, you can disassemble the box and examine the condition of the key parts, but if either of the shafts needs replacing, then a new box will almost certainly be cheaper, and you will be without the vehicle while you get the parts, plus the time taken to strip and reassemble the box.
