Thoughts on this valve spring compressor for insitu valve stem replacment - P76 V8
Would this valve spring compressor do the job for removing valve springs without removing the head on a V8? (P76, original heads).

I already have an air hold fitting so hopefully holding the valve in place shouldnt be an issue.
I want to replace the inlet valve stem seals to try and cure a smoking problem.

Yep - works well. I have one and have replaced seals and valves on both a RRv8 & Tdi. Just take it slow and ensure the tangs of the arms are placed under the lowest part of the spring. Stuff some rag in the various holes as losing collets is a major PITA -even if the sump is off. (Actually try to have a few collets spare - that way if you do lose one it's no big deal - ditto for valve stem caps if a p76 has em).
If you take the handle off and use a socket set - don't get too enthusiastic. The unit will just slip off and bounce around.
If the valve stem & cap doesn't separate from the spring, try giving the valve a tap with a small hammer before re-applying the remover. Just a tap square on the top to loosen it up, and when you compress the spring the valve should stay put exposing the two collets.
