check your oil level and quality to start with....
Australia day weekend trip turned short after my auto decided it was only a 2 speed. Firstly no lockup as merged on highway, then 2 mins later no 3rd gear either. Was embarrased having to go home and get the wifes car(sigh, at least it's a dico too, slow and standard though). Any ideas? Who has had gearbox's reco in SEqld and where ??? I want someone who actually knows the gearbox.........

Second Dave post.
Check the oil level of it's ok drop the oil into a clean container. Smell it and look at the colour. If you find grey sludge then your in trouble.
I the oil is fine then replace the filter and refill.
Good luck.
what car do you have?
Andy
Does anyone know what is involved in modifying gbox to allow torque converter lock up in 3rd gear (and 1st gear would be good)???????
I am currently trying to find the link that is on here somewhere
