Tdi 300 oil preassure
I just installed a VDO engine oil preassure on the Defe and I would like to know which are in KPA in normal oil preassure when ideling and at 2000 rpm (+ o -)
The gauge marked 400 kpa when cold and then dropped to 200 when hot at ideling.
The original oil lamp alarm is ok and show normal.
400 kpa = 58.01 PSA
400 kpa = 4 bar

I fitted a VDO (electric) oil p.gauge to my 300tdi about 4 years ago and that's pretty much exactly my readings, 400-450 cold and after about 80-100 km, it runs at around 200. Idle settles to 100 kpa hot. That's on penrite HPR Diesel (20w60) but is the same on the castrol RX super I previously used. While on the subject of oil pressure mine pumps up pressure within 2-3 sec if it only sits for 3 days but if I leave it longer it takes ages to pump up. I have an oil pump and relief kit to put in, anybody else experienced this?

i have fitted the EMS 2 that the entertainer on here is selling
same sorta results
3.6 bar cold
1.8 - 2.2 hot idle
1.0 - 1.2 when it really gets hot
id had some initial issues with the wires getting hot and that affecting the readings, low pressure alarm would go off. ive re-routed the wires and had some improvement. gotta get round to getting some heat shielded wires
there is a spare temp sender circuit on the unit that ive been meaning to fit to the engine oil to get a better understanding, just waiting for the next oil change...
no issues with time taken to buld up pressure, will have another look tho

Your reading is very close to the reading that I have in the Rustic.
I do not have issues with delay in building up preassure.
My heat and water level alarm is the one that dave is selling and I have no problems with the wiring.

I have a good run today, 160km to Hervey Bay.
The gauge shows 400 kpa when cold and 250 kpa running at normal temperature @ 90 kph on the flat.

Started pulling down my 300 TDI defender today part of the job includes new oil pump rotor and pressure relief piston and spring. Will post up the readings when it's done. I want it reliable for the Simpson trip in September.

Finally finished the oil pump job, the entire job took a while because I also replaced the lift pump, water pump, oil cooler lines, p.steer lines, all cooling system hoses and header tank as well as the oil pump rotors and relief slug and spring and also the timing belt with idler and tensioner. I've found over the years that these jobs are best tackled at leisure. While I was dirty I pulled off the oil filter head and tested the oil thermostat. The pressure is now 290 to 330 Kpa at anything above idle and idle pressure is 130 to 160 Kpa hot. Cold is much higher and idle was at 420 initially on start up and lifted to 480 driving.

Looks good, my VDO only reads up to 400kpa so I cannot telling you if cold go over that.
Which oil are you using and how many kls have your Tdi for you to do all this work?

Oil is Penrite HPR Diesel, Kms are 213500. I have a Simpson trip planned for September and I'm just going over it. The Oil pump episode is because it took ages to reach pressure if I let it sit for more than 3 days. Probably check the transfer next.
