    D2 fuel pressure/pump

    After reading some recent threads I'm increasingly thinking that the inability of my D2 to rev much over 2500rpm is due to a lack of fuel pressure (new loom and ECU and runs smoothly up to 2500rpm so don't think it's an injector problem). What's the easiest way to determine if adequate pressure is getting to the injectors without getting excessive air in the system?

    There's no disturbing noises coming from the fuel pump but the Disco's done 150K km and I don't think the pump has ever been replaced. It's possible that there's a blockage at the pump or somewhere in the fuel lines or maybe it's the fuel regulator. If it turns out to be the pump, is there a good aftermarket replacement for the genuine item which doesn't strike me as being particularly durable given the number that have gone on this forum...

    Remove the fuel temp sensor from the pressure regulator block and insert an outlet or pressure sensor in its place. Pressure should be about 58psi / 4 bar.

    Does the engine rev past 2500 while out of gear or on light throttle, yet cut-out under load? If so, it could be a failed boost modulator that causes the ecu to cut fuel when boost is too high.

    Edit: I made a fitting from an old sensor - same sensor used in V6 Commodores and lots of other vehicles.

    the engine doesn't cut out as such under load and it will actually rev to 4000rpm if you force it too - but it becomes harsh over 2500rpm and certainly doesn't rev out freely like they're apparently supposed to. GC in Syd have previously sussed the electricals and fault codes and that was all fine but I don't think they checked the fuel pressue/blockages/air in lines etc - they thought it was a lack of fuel requiring an upgraded ECU, but this hasn't helped that much. The air side of the equation is fine too - snorkel, new filter, hoses fine, EGR removed etc.
