The drain is blocked. (obviously )

Get into it from the return air section (passengers feet)
Undo the four bolts/machine screws holding the metal grille in place and you will see that there are two drains out of the condensate tray running to a tee piece that then exists through the firewall.
Pop both hoses off and you'll probably have a flood on the floor, if not just gently poke something suitable up both drain spouts and blow through the drain hose.

In an ideal world you'd spray some coil cleaner on the evaporator and give it and the drains a clean, but it isn't that simple.....

BTW, AMC who designed and built the system no longer exist.

I recently had my Defender AC regassed and have been using it quite a bit in the last couple of weeks.

I had a very small puddle on the floor on the RHS of the unit, so I pulled the panel off to see if one of the hoses had come off.

The RHS hose was half off, so I assumed that was the problem, pushed to hose all the way on and replaced the panel.

The puddle is smaller, but it's still there. As it's only a small puddle, it's less urgent than another problem that i am dealing with at the moment.

From the suggestions here it seems that it might have been a good idea for me to check whether the hose was clear and whether the drain it attaches to was clear.

It produces a pretty impressive puddle on the floor of the carport, so there is obviously a lot of water draining out from somewhere.

As I was typing that last bit, it occurred to me that it continues to drip for quite a while after I switch off. Maybe that suggests a partial blockage on one side. Does yours do that?

Maybe it's building up in the unit faster than it can escape.

vnx205 how humid is it where you live? Possibly condensation on the outside of the aircon unit making the puddle but would really be very small! Used to get it sometimes on a humid day and with a recently gassed unit... but never noticed a damp floor because of it. Also sort of off thread but both Defender aircons I have had experience with used to drive me mad with the drain pipe that kept being kicked out by passengers. Used silicone sealant and all sorts that didn't last. In the end made a metal plate that bolts into the existing floor panel screws and acts as a kickplate. Damp floor (from aircon anyway) a thing of the past

It is quite humid at the moment; more so than usual. I live within sight of the ocean and have a lake half a kilometre away on the north and a kilometre away on the south.

I did wonder if it might be condensation on a part of the unit that was not serviced by the drain.

That may be the answer.
