Oil relief spring 300Tdi
Yesterday I replaced all big end bearings and the O ring for the oil pick up pipe but when I went to replace the plunger and spring for the oil pressure relief valve the new spring was way different to the one that came out. It is a genuine LR part and marked as the correct part#ERR1084. It is shorter (43mm)narrower and wont even fit on the stumps that it seats on the plunger or the plug that screws into the block. The original spring that came out is 47mm long, Rave gives me two free spring lengths 51.6mm and 68mm for the 300Tdi
Can anyone help, what is the correct spring length for the 300Tdi

The one supplied to me is p/n ERR 1084 (only measured with a tape as I can't locate my verniers right now). The existing one is 44mm and the new one is 54mm, diameter is the same though. While on the oil pump subject mine has a score on the surface between the suction and pressure sides caused by a small burr on one tooth of the inner rotor. I'll need to get it welded and machined but I'm wondering if that might be the cause of the (300tdi) to take ages to pump up oil pressure if left unstarted for longer than 3 days. Maybe the oil slowly drains through the score and causes loss of prime?

Sorry to dig this one up from the depths, but has anyone got a definite length for the relief valve spring ?
RAVE says 68mm, (pg 24, workshop manual, pg 32, engine O/H manual) the one I've removed is 49mm, surely it hasn't lost 19mm in free length ?? although it'd be nice if that's all that's wrong......
About to drop the big ends, wish me luck........
