95 Landrover Disco V8 with speedo wobble and ordinary idle.
Hi All,
my 95 Landrover disco V8 has a speedo that has just developed jumping and twitches l have been told it may be the VSS? but they vary on location apparently some are located near the transfer case? This problem also effects the cruise control with surging.
The V8 is also struggling to idle on start up and when in gear select but not in park after warm up?
If any one has any advice it would be appreciated.

Re the idle, right at the back of the motor (on top) you will see a large hexagonal plug with two wires going to it. Twist off the wires, undo the plug and clean the carbon from it. Reverse procedure should have idle like a bought one.

Thanks will give it a go. Sounds easier than the MAF replacement that was mentioned.

Twitchy speedo may be "W" connector at back of alternator loose or broken. Don't ask me what "W" stands for though...

"W" stands for wachometer.
AFAIK no connection to speedo.
