.... Are you trying to remove .... the actual swivel ball from the diff housing??

Go via .... Remove bolts to brake caliper / Remove bolts to top swivle ... Be aware that the swivle bolts have locking tabs

Pllace & hang caliper to one side

Then remove Stub axle / Rotor / ect .... down to the swivle ball .... Be aware that the 2 bottom bolts of the swivle joint are mongrels to remove due to the fact that they are Allen key heads ... So have a "Quality" set on hand that fits perfect .... and they put "lock tight" on the threads

    Hope it helps

    Mike

cheers for your input have not got any allen key bolts on my housing, had the whole thing stripped and the housing off already as i was fitting new discs (rotors) and pads, then saw no point putting new oil seals in the swivel housing because of the pitting.
The drama i am having is the 17 mm bolt closest to the brake pipe union mounting, he is not willing to play so think may need a bit of loving and convincing from oxy torch,
the smaller lower bolts no worries the bolt to the front of the top two is fine just this one is painful ....where do the allen keys come into play is there some more fixings inside that i have not seen ???
    regards Andy

p.s. got a quote on the new swivel, i know you can get em for around 45-50 quid in the uk so you wou expect a bit of carriage, yeah i nearly fell over a certain company in bayswater quoted $250, i see where the craft part of the business name comes in, its the craft of extracting cash!
The price should be $100 plus maybe $30 carriage a substantial saving, i would rather wait than give over my hard earned to that bunch of bandits.
I would have no hesitation passing over a few extra bucks to keep a great service alive, but stuff that ....they could only be beaten by barbarism bros in glendalough who wanted a staggering $400 must have been gilt not chrome

One other way is to clean the ball until it is nice an smooth and clean and fill the pits with epoxy steel - when filed down to match the ball it will make a nice smooth surface for the seal to move across and stop the leaks and not damage the seal.
