Smile Toyota Diffs into Range Rover Housing

    Hi Guys,

Im looking at putting the toyota diff centers(with the e-lockers) in my range rover housing. I can get a pair but the problem is there both rear centers, Can I do it or do I need a front and rear?
I believe there from a 80 series landcruiser

Done some research n rang JacMac for axles n he said $800 for rear, $650 for front. at that price i hope there strong but 30spline I guess you cant go wrong

I tried to search on this forum for others who have done this but no lucking finding anyone (unless my search capabilities have gone to crap) So once I do this ill write a tutorial or blog on it. Has anyone else on here done this? I would love to hear your pro's n con's on this.

2 things I have a question about is,
    - Rear Axles, do you pop the cap off the old axles or get one made up with the same bolt holes (Cap that screws into the disc to spin the wheels) ?
    - Front Axles, do you just use the standard Knuckles n put the upgraded axles into them? (the knuckle for the steering, is that called a CV?)

    Many Thanks!

your search capabilities are crap. Manty have done them, including myself.
You need an 80 series high pinion front and a hilux rear.
The flanges (caps) come with the axles, the cv's are generally toyota 23 spline.
So you need from Jacmac. front axles, rear axles, rear drive flanges, front drive flanges, front spindle bushes (need machining) rear hilux centre, front 80 series high pinion centre, spindles need machining (boring), bushes need to be made to fit swivels, hilux or lonfield cv's.

Rovertracks have reasonable information on their website on how to do the conversion.

I used Discovery axle housings (non IFS) with 80 series front, Lux rear and bobby longfield 30 splines and ARB air lockers. vern's spot on with everything else you need.

I do have a copy of the template used for the toyota conversions that I can loan out so you get the right drill pattern to fit the toyo diff centres. You need to drill out the toyo pattern and then weld fill some addition rover holes that won't be used. Boring the swivel hubs needs to be precise and Marlin Crawler bushes will fit

The rovertracks set up makes life pretty easy and gives you a real strong driveline. their armour sewer caps are bloody strong too as long as you are handy with a mig.

Since doing all this we have absolutely abused the car and it is going strong

Awesome thanks for the info, why a hylux rear though(isnt it only the 80 series that come with e-lockers)? Can you not do it with a 80 series rear center in both front n back?

Not too shabby with a mig so I was considering the sewer caps or I might just make up some armour for the diff as my housings arent rusty (ive been told this is rare)

80's rear is bigger, this is designed to take 8" centres, ie. 80/100 series high pinion front, hilux in the rear.

Only if you put the entire rear axle in.
