wheel spacers and diff plugs and wheel nuts

    1. anyone using wheel spacers? any advantage/disadvantage? steel/alloy?

    2. diff plugs? can anyone can steer me to metal plugs or can tell me thread size so I can make them myself? I'm brissy/gold coast located.

    3. wheel nuts....I hate the wheel nuts on the disco, would like to put a nice set of hex nuts on it....same question ....anyone know where I can get a set? If I was to set up and manufacture nice acorn style nuts polished in a tough stainless steel how much would anyone be prepared to pay for a set of 20? Is anyone doing this already?

i run a set of billeted alloy 30mm spacers on the 90.
advantages - unbelievable turning circle (keeps claire happy when parking), better track and it's looks sooooo much better with the wider stance. i also figured it would be easier on the bearings as well i ('m running alloy rims) than running with a heavy steel rim with a big offset.
disadvantages if i have an accident i need to remove them!

Wheel spacers are illegal in all Australian states, I believe, certainly in Qld and NSW. Which explains why they are hard to come by. A search here will find previous discussions on the subject.

they can be engineered as an ADAPTER as they dont space the studs like the traditional spacers for rice burners. the engineer will take into account the strength of the OE studs and the extra load applied to the wheel bearings.

    rambelingboy42... is it a D1 or D2??

MR automotive/karcraft/rovercraft will have the metat diff plugs.

    cheers phil

The spacers are also sold by Snake Racing. As I understood it, its better to run the steel spacers over the alloy due to movement in the material when changing temps from the hub and loosening. I've barely driven on mind so I cant comment to much on that.

big differance between D1 &D2. PCD is smaller on the D2 and so are the studs, D2 is 14mm D1 is 16mm.
    D2 pcd is 120mm i think D1 is 165mm i think..

are you running steel wheels? i ask because the D2 alloys have shiny wheel nuts.

Qld. Transport are quite definite on the subject of wheel spacers. They are only permitted if they are supplied as original equipment.

I'm not sure that there are spacers out there for the D2. Do the pom importers like Rovercraft have them?
