Hi, just replaced the alternator in 95 disco. Tacho not working and battery light on? Any ideas?

Yep. that'd be the first thing to check.
Actually, you did put the belt back on, didn't you ?
Also check to see there isn't a break in the charging wire between the alt and the battery.
If you have a multimeter turn it to continuity (ohms) at the lowest scale and check the cable by disconnecting from the battery and the back of the alternator.
Turn the meter to DC volts and check the output of the alternator when running.
It'll be something pretty simple.
Hello Mate I had to change the Alternator in my 91 disco
the origional one was too expensive
I got the front mount from a chrysler sigma as it has left and right mounting brackets and bolts straight in the origional position also its just a bosch with inbuilt reg and brushes
but like you the tacho didnt work thats due to the brown wire out
of the back of the Alt
if you dont have one you need to solder a wire onto one of the stattor windings there is 3 windings any one will do
just solder onto one of them a short wire and a female
terminal and plug the brown wire to it and your tacho will work mine is perfect and no troubles for 3 yrs now
