you get yourself a lrage heavy duty body washer
it goes over the top like the large flat plate in the picture
the trick is making sure that the hole in the middle of the washer is smaller than the ball.
theres 3 ways of achieving the result doing the washer trick
1. welding the washer inside of the raised bits so that the center of hump that the pivot ball sits in sits inside the washer, you then weld the washer.
This works well BUT its the method that weakens the arm, sure the ball doesnt punch through any more but the arm can bend.
2. Getting a bigger washer and mounting it like the plate then welding it up.
it works but the ball can still punch through the pivot you loose some pedal but theres usually enough left to keep you going.
3. weld the washer on and backfill it with brazing rod.
this is the ducks nuts solution if you have the time and patients to do it right. you weld the washer on as per the flat plate in the picture and then all the little voids between the plate and the arm you fill with brazing rod. The whole shebang is re-inforced by the big washer with the brazing fill stopping the ball from punching out. Takes some time to do tho

solder with a high tin % will also work and yes, I have priced it.
If Im doing a fork for someone I tell them the costs and then let them pick how they want me to do it, at the end of the day Im only obligated to fit OEM parts or parts they supply.
But thats not strictly Best practice.
